My New Toy! :D

After almost 4 years, I have finally got a new mobile phone! :D

It's not that my old phone is broken or anything. :D Just that I will be going to Japan soon and Japan is a weird country! :D Only 3G phones work there. :D

New phone on the left, old phone on the right. :D I have passed it on to my mom now. :D She was quite happy to get her antique phone updated. :D
I created the avatar on the new phone's home screen with a nokia 'Avatar SMS' program.

The first thing to set up on the phone is of course the Instant messages software. :D I found this one called "Slick" which let you log into all your IM accounts. :D

This is another fun program you can download to your phone. :D Not that I know how to play the piano, just thought it's a fun gadget to show off :P

I also downloaded the infamous google Maps. :D My favorite atlas! :D

The phone is still quite new, so there aren't that many games or programs to be downloaded yet. But I am sure in time, things will change. :D

Here are some of the pictures I took using the phone too. :D

This is Central, Hong Kong. :)

My Tv. :D I was watching "The Great Caruso" on TMC. :D I love these old movies with singing and dancing in it :D

I must say, I am not gonna give up my trusty canon camera just yet. :D Taking photos with the phone is convenient, but not as good quality. :)

All in all, I am very satisfy with this phone.

Degradable Bag !

Have you ever seen a "degradable bag" in action??! :D

I have!! :D

I was cleaning up my area the other day and found this! I have this weird hobby of saving up special plastic bags. :D

This bag was obtained from the Ngong Ping cable car gift shop about 2+ years ago. I haven't mess with it until now.

I found it in this degrading condition. The material of the bag has become flaky and kinda 'melts' in your fingers.

Market fair for the Chinese New Year.

Yesterday is my last day off before the Chinese New Year! :D So I took my old folks to the Fair to get our peach blossom tree. :)

It's almost 4pm and people are streaming in. :) So excited.

This is not yet the most crowded scene yet!
Wow this is one giant windmill! :D Legend says that Windmill has the power to turn your bad luck around :)

Shopping for a peach blossome tree was our main goal that day. :D Here's my dad looking for a good tree. :)

This is the peach blossom tree we end up taking home. :) It's quite nice. :D HK$368!

This is our tree! :)

I also bought a cute windmill :D $28! :)

When Arrogant customer strikes!

Customer: Why the bonus point has an expiry date!?
Colleague: Oh! Yes, bonus points expire once every 3 years
Customer: I am asking you why!!
Colleague: It's a card feature!
Customer: Do you know who I am!!! I am Bank of XXX's Vice President!!! I demand you to extend my bonus point!!
Colleague: Sorry, we do not have such an arrangement at the moment.
Customer: You haven't even tried to ask! If your bank refuse to entertain my request, I demand to know who declined me so I will complain about him!

My colleague complied and referred his case for him. Unsurprisingly, his request was denied.

Frankly, even if he's the VP of our bank, we would still not entertain him; let alone he's only another bank's VP?! He has no control over how we run our business! :P

Dinning with Old Lee II ! :D

It was quite crazy that night! (11 Jan, 2009) :D The 3 of us had 8 dishes!!!! Mind you, we already ordered a 4 people set dinner which contained 6 dishes to begin with! :D

Here is our feasts! 1 dish short of 9 course feast (九大鬼)

Steamed shrimps (白灼鮮蝦)

Long shell clams in black bean sauce

Spicy Mantis Shrimps (椒鹽瀨尿蝦)

Steamed scallops in garlic and transparent noodles

Steamed eel!

Daikon in chicken stock

Steamed fish :D (清蒸黃立倉)

It's incredible a table of 3 girls (consists of small, medium and X-Large size respectively) can stomach all these in 1 meal! :D
This is the remain of the fish! :D

It's even more amazing that our bill only came to HK$424!!! The waitress was so amused by us that she even gave us a free of bottle of beer!
I highly recommend this legendary sea side restaurant in Cheung Chau.

So Bor Kee Restaurant

Direction: turn left after the pier, look for the restaurant with the most diners.

Even kitties would eat here!

Walk for Million 2009

I have been so busy lately.. (but I couldn't account for where my time has been spent...:P) I am lagging behind on my blog updating business. :D

This walk for Million (百萬行) happened on the 11, Jan this year. It's the second time I joined this event. :D

This year, my company has the most turn out for this event ever! Last year, we only occupied 4 sections of the Hong Kong stadium, but 6 this year! It's really lots of people!! According to my boss, we have the most people show up for this event among the banks who joined.

We all worn our corporate color that day, meaning, Black and Red.

What a sight! We created a sea of red when we marched out of the stadium. We were instructed to stand at the stairs of the stadium for a group picture! Our crowd was so huge it took us about 10 minutes to organize. :D

In the end, a policeman had to come to us and hurry us away so not to block the venue. :D

Here's our company's CEO, acting as the human billboard of our company logo :P She's cutely petite :D

There were lots of other corporations and organizations participated in this charity event too. Even my parents' "China loving old people's club" had joined. :D They are seated opposite us in the stadium. Their color was light sky blue. Quite cheerful! :D

If I were still with this company, I will join again next year for sure. :D

After the Walk for Million on Sunday, I went home to nap for a few hours.  I had to meet up with Old Lee and Old Lau to go to Cheung Chau that evening for a seafood feast! :D

Learning Japanese in an English Way.....

Regret to say I didn't pay much attention in my Japanese 101 class back in college! :D Now I am about to go to Japan, it's really hard to learn the place names in both English & Chinese. :D

I am having problem memorizing the English version of the Japanese places, therefore it's hard for me to translate it to my boyfriend, Mr. MonkeyMan! :D

This reminds me of an old prank Hong Kong's 'Soft Hard DJ' (軟硬天師) had played to some innocent listeners some 15 years ago. :D  It's called "I teach you in a Spanish way".

My friend, Old Lee and I always joke about "learning some language in an English way".  This sure brings back old memory... :D

Some good soul had put up many of their pranks on youtube. :D Bless his soul! :D

I am so busy with "Freedom walk" (自由行) research!  That's why didn't update my blog! :D

So much I didn't know about Japan coz I never dream of going there! :D So expensive! :D

Anyways... just to report where I am is all. :P

Dinning with Old Lee! :D

My best friend, Old Lee, aka, Professor Lee, :P has returned to Hong Kong for a performance tour. :D Yesterday, we met up for dinner.

Originally, we wanted to go to the Temple Street to have some street foods. But due to my recent intestine mayhem, my other best friend, Old Lau, opposed it. :D

So here we are, at old Lau and my usual Chinese restaurant, enjoying clean indoor Cantonese cuisine.

Other than the standard menu, the restaurant also has a hand written one. What is served that day depends on what the chef can get his hands on. :)

We got there pretty late (7:45pm), so all the soup of the day (例湯) has been sold out. So we ordered the steamed soup, "Veggie and Pig's lung soup" (菜胆炖豬肺), hk$108 a pot.

Usually, I don't enjoy eating pig's lung. I always think it's dirty and icky. But this restaurant's soup was so good! The lungs looked so clean I actually ate quite a lot of it. :D

The lung's texture is sorta like a firmer version of brain. It's not as rich and creamy either. It makes one easier to eat stomach them.

The soup is so clear and low fat. :P

It was just so good! :D

Then we have our main dishes.

White eel and bitter melon stir fry.

Large clams cooked in spicy wine sauce. (辣油燴大蛤) I can make this one better though. :P

Signature roasted chicken (招牌趣皮蔥油雞).

Baked oyster with 'boot' wine. I dunno what 'boot wine' is :D (boot
[update: Thanks to Mr Chris Leung. Boot wine = Port Wine!] :D

This is really really good!! Highly recommend it! :)

We had a very fulfilling dinner last night. Old Lee lives in the USA for a long time and she doesn't frequent Hong Kong. These are the delights she cannot enjoy back in Chicago. :) I hope she enjoys what we have ordered for her. :)

$1 BBQ pork rice (一元叉燒飯的人龍)

Yesterday, before I went out to meet my old friend, I saw this long queue lining up at a Chinese BBQ restaurant.

I didn't realize what it was until I overheard another passenger behind me saying, "That's the $1 bbq pork rice queue!"

This is a promotion from the restaurant to encourage people spendng money in this finanical darkage. Many elderies are taking advantage of this. :P

New gift from work! :D

After 2 days of day offs, I showed up at work on 01/01/09, suddenly realize there's something different at my station. At first glance, I couldn't tell what it was that was different.

After some touching and looking, I realize these difference:

Monitor: Flat screen LCD!
Keyboard: New and clean!
Mouse: it is now an optical mouse with scroll wheel!! :D
Terminal: the on button is at a different location :D
Desk: More Spacious, but messy just the same :D

Yay!! I got a new set of terminal at work! :D ROCK! :D

Ick! :D sick on 02/01!

Aiya! I think I ate bad shrimps during the hot pot dinner, on the 2nd of Januaray, I got this acuate intestine infection thing. Was not good.

I had to take 2 sick days per doctor's order.  Finally feeling better today.

Hopefully these are the only 2 sick days I am gonna take in 2009! Must stay strong!!!
