Group vomit! :D 圍嘔! :D

When a bunch of colleague go out to dinner, we call it 'Group vomit' :D Why? Because if the food wasn't too good, then all of us would vomit together. :D

Last Saturday, we had a chance to have this group vomit gathering. There were 5 of us and we each get to pick 1 simple dish. We visited the 'cantee' I wrote a few days ago.

Here was our menu...

Hairy melon and dried squid soup. :) Not bad, no sign of MSG

Our national dish, sweet and sour pork. :D

egg plant and minced pork in little pot. :)

Onion and Pepper baby beef ribs in black pepper sauce. :)

Honey greens with fish and black bean stir fry

Steamed squid and pork meat loaf. :D

Dinning with colleagues are so much funner than dinning alone. You get to have more choices in the dishes.

Although not all these dishes are healthy choices.. but in the work place, it's crucial to social with others. :D

A girls night out.

To celebrate Vivian's birthday, I took her out to movie and a nice Japanese dinner on my last day off. :D
We dined at one of our usual gathering places, Watami Japanese Restaurant.

While waiting for Viv, I ordered myself a "Strawberitta" drink. It's just a strawberry slush. :D

Looking around the table, I found this familiar comic character advertisement. The comic was drawn by Viv's friend who is now a very popular comic writer in Hong Kong. Later I found out from Viv that this promotional campaign is liaised by Viv herself for her friend. :D Among all my friends, I think Viv has the most business sense, while Old lee has the most penny pinching sense and I have the most shop while I drop sense. :D

Here is our first course. :D multi sashimi! :) Although the slices are thin, but it was satisfying.

Then we had some sushi! :D We had salmon & tuna, scallop and unagi :) I love unagi! :)

Then we had fried oysters. :D

Pan seared scallops and mushrooms. Yummy!

Assorted Tempura! :D Ordered too much, we did! :D hehe

Last but not least, we had a japanese style Pizza ;D :D

Gosh, we finished all these in 40 minutes! :D hahah After dinner, we went and watch a movie called "Valkyrie". I like the movie very much.

Home Made Agar-Agar Pudding

I remember when I was a small kid, my dad used to make me Agar-agar Easter Eggs :D It was poor man's jello back in those days.

However, Time has changed. Inflation happened. What used to be hk$1 a big pile now costs $16 for a square of 8 inch X 8 inch! :D

Why would I want to make it myself? Well, lately, I have visited Cheung Chau with Mr. MonkeyMan and Old lee. There is a brilliant dessert store there which sells shredded egg agar pudding. It was so refreshing and made me want to make it myself! :D

Mr. MonkeyMan holding a bowl of the store bought Agar Pudding. :D

It's simple to make it.

You just need to boil the Agar-agar until it melts, add a little sugar and wait till it cools and sets. That's it! :)

But this time, I experimented with flower tea to enhance its flavor.

The ingredients included in the flower tea pack are: Hibiscus Flowers, apple, Rosehips, passion fruits, papaya, pineapple (ick), cornflowers, and sunflower blossoms.

The agar strips have soften in the flower tea. :)

here's the finished product :D The color is so pretty :D

When it's cooled and set, you have some gravity defying Agar-agar pudding :D

For more information about Agar-agar, visit here. :)

Happy Birthday Vivian! :D

It's Vivian's birthday today! :D SO happy birthday to her! :D

What's for dinner? :D

My work office has moved since last week. It takes time to find another 'canteen' where a bunch of us can get out of the office and relax for an hour.

Yesterday I had visited this little restaurant (茶餐廳) which seems quite promising.

I ordered a steamed eel with tofu with black bean sauce dish. (鼓汁豆腐蒸大白鱔) Eel is one of my favorite fishes in the world. :D

Although it costed $62, the dish sizes was quite generous.

The black bean sauce wasn't any ordinary black bean sauce. It tastes different than normal black bean steamed stuff sauce. So at the end of the meal, I asked the waiter what they had put in it. They said it's their special secret.

But let me make an educated guess... :D They put some roasted whole garlics, ginger, green onions, a little bit of plum sauce and a bit of chilly sauce. All these different flavors exploded on your tongue. Quite interesting.

Location of the restaurant can be found in below picture. :)

Delicious abalone.

average size of the abalone is about 3 inches long! :D Each of us gets 2 of them. :D

That meal took a long time to finish :D coz I was trying to eat the abalone sloooowly. :D I took a big bite first, but the rest of it i took small bites. :D

It was sooooo good :D hehe

That cousin is now officially a guest of honor... if he brings abalone to visit.. :D

hmm... dissecting..

My colleague, who has worked at my company for like 20 years has lots of gadget stashed away. When we relocated, we had to dump many things away.

As for my colleague, he found different treasures among his belongings. :D

One of the items he was proudly flaunt around is a .... vibrator... :D hahaha

Out of curiosity, and with my encouragement, he decided to dissect it. :P

Here's my colleague's treasure trove :D He's cutting the vibrator up! :D

He cuts up the outer shell and the motor inside is revealed.

This is how it vibrates... :D geeeeeeeppp

Fog!

Just want to show you how foggy it was yesterday..

This picture was taken on the 14th when the sky was clear. This is my new office building, "One Island East". I was looking up from the foot of the building.

This was yesterday's picture. It's so foggy, the tip of the building was hidden behind the fogs. Too bad my office is at the lower floors, so we cannot feel the 'above the clouds' feeling. :D

93% humidity! 93%

I am riding the clouds! :D

Today's humidity is 93%!! So much fog! :D I hate weather!

Happy Valentine's Day <3

This is a Christmas gift from a colleague. :D I thought it's quite cute and romantic to be on display on Valentine's day. :D

I wish all the Lovers out there have a great Valentine's Day. :)

A curious scene in Central, HK 2

Aiya! :D I had to pump this post out earlier than scheduled because these peta ladies' demonstration actually is on the news today!! :D

The banana pile is all about PETA. Some PETA advocates were demonstrating there trying encourage people to turn vegetarian.

After I talked to the English Lady there, she handed me the flyer. We chitchat a little bit before I left. :D

A pair of Chinese old ladies saw me talking to the foreigners and they asked me what were they all about. I told them they were trying to turn people into vegetarians.

Their comment was: Such a waste to waste the bananas, why don't they just hand the bananas out instead of piling them on the floor for display?! :D

I agreed with the old laides and bid them farewell. :D

Everybody knows I am a carnivore, I probably won't turn vegetarian in this lifetime :D

***After reading the news today, turns out the Peta people had some sexy ladies handing out these bananas after I left!! Dang! I missed it! :D ****

A curious scene in Central, HK

What is going on here?? Are we waiting for King Kong's visit?

Yesterday afternoon, after I finished going to the CEO conference at work, I saw a bunch of foreigners piling banana into a mountain.

Nobody dared to go ask the banana pilers, but I did... :D

Answer later. :D

Mom: Aiya! You bought new shoes again in Chinese New Year?!
Me: So what?! :D
Mom: I have said many times before, it's unlucky to buy shoes in New Year month! (Due to the sound of "Shoes" in Chinese is similiar to the sound of Sighing, and we Chinese usually sigh when there's troubles.)
Me: Well! :D I bought shoes last year too, and it turned out fine! :D I even got a couple rewards too! :D
Mom: But you not only bought 1 pair this year!
Me: You know, 2 negatives equal 1 positive! :D Double sigh means 1 happiness "la"! :D

Old Mom rendered speechless! :D

我 made up 吾到 my mind 咩色好D, 所以兩對都買下來! :D

I couldn't make up my mind whether to buy the black or the red pair. But then, I figured it's near impossible to find shoes in Hong Kong for my size 10 feet! So I bought the black pair for work and the red pair for casual situations :D

Couldn't wait to put them on! :D I actually wore it home right away from the store. :D

Picasso LaBean

I declare myself Picasso LaBean today! :D hehe

I love my new mobile phone. :D

There's this program I downloaded called "Paint". I drew this on my touch screen phone the other day. :D

Flirty Scooters :D

Lately, I was attracted to this black scooter. Its white top, snake skin belt and black tights just caught my attention. :D I couldn't help but to stay a few minutes to admire it every night after work.

However, these 2 nights, I discovered that it's as flirty as a handsome man! :D

I saw it with a lady scooter with a sky blue long dress one night and I approved the match. :P

But, the next night, I was shocked to discover that the black knight had changed girlfriend already!!!

This time, she's a mature lady in pink!!!

Flirty scooter, very naughty! :D

If I had $30,000,000..

I just finished reading Mr. Chris Leung's post about "If I had 30 Million Dollars". Just thought I'd give this a thought too. :D

My first thought was, "Would I quit my job?" I think I would! :D

Maybe I would open a little cafe somewhere. Maybe move to Canada or any place which allows 'investment migration' :D

Maybe I'd even just travel the world with Mr. MonkeyMan. :D The order of places I want to go is... Egypt, Italy, France, UK, Greece, Germany, Japan, The whole USA... :D.. oh.. anywhere I could go I guess.

As of daily needs such as clothing, food, housing and transportation:

Clothes: I wouldn't care for designer clothes, I'd just buy things that suit my style. AND!!! Lots of Shoes!! HAHA.. Women and their shoes.. inseparable:P

Food: I'd try things I never tried before... :D The food doesn't have to be expensive, just healthy and exotic is fine. Maybe I'd hire a personal Chef who cook me yummy things :D No Durians and Pineapples though! :D Ick :P

Housing: I'd buy a house in Hong Kong, somewhere in the South of Hong Kong Island with a sea view. I'd also buy a big seaside mansion in Monterey, CA to suit my vacation needs. :D

Transportation: I won't need a car in Hong Kong, but I'd buy a little mini smart car for myself, and a trailer for road trips in North America. :D Also, a boat in Hawaii! :D

Huge Goose eggs! :D

:D There is no way I can eat the whole huge egg by myself.

So obviously I cut it up and share it with my folks.

It's kinda different than a chicken egg. The yoke seems a little creamier then a regular egg.

The whites are even funnier. It's very crunchy. Like a hard type of jello.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a goose egg. :) I think everyone should try it once in their lifetime. :)

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Huge eggs?

Have you ever seen eggs this big!?!?

The egg on the right is a regular chicken egg. :D The one on the left is like 2.5x its size.

Can you guess what kind of egg it is? :D

I will give you an answer tomorrow. :D

Huger moon! :D Okay Okay! This is the last post about moon! :D

It was the Chinese Valentine's Day (完宵節), the moon was sure round and bright. :D

Okay.. enough moon talk for the year. :D I promise this is the last post about the Moooooooon.... :D

Crazy Wires! :D

This Friday, a fuse at home blew up! :D My computer suffered a sudden shut down and it didn't like it. My E:\ which was the drive I stored all my photos in disappeared!!! :D

Freaked out, I was! :D

I had to take my computer downstairs to check up. Turned out the BIOS was messed up. :D Now it's all fixed. :D

When I took my computer back home, I was amazed how I could tolerate my wires crumpled up like it was. :D So, naturally, I had to untangle them :D

Before:

After:

So much better! :D
