When HKG is colder than SFO

Today is the so called "Little Cold" (小寒) according to the Chinese Lunar calendar.

Brrrrrrrrr.... Just like Old Lee said... It's "So fucking cold these days".

I so fucking love it!! :D

Naturally Smiley foods

I was just talking about my happy smiley bruise yesterday, I just noticed I am inclined to taking pictures of smiley objects! :D

I was just flipping through the pictures I took last year, found below 2 pictures with smiley faces. :)

I wish you all a happy smiley 2012 :) :) :)

The happy 卜街 bruise

After more than a week since the tragic fell down on my knee incident, my bruise on the kneecap is finally fading a bit.

Like people noticing funny unexpected patterns on things such as "Jesus on toasts", I have noticed a smily face on my bruise. :)

heheh

I think it mirrors my new year resolution #1, to make my happiness a priority! :D  Even my painful bruise is helping me to reach my happiness goal! :D

My Favorite Christmas Song

I don't know why, suddenly, a week or so after Christmas, the song, "Have yourself a merry little Christmas" keeps popping up in my head, so I decided to combat poison with poison (以毒攻毒) and repeatedly listen to Michael Bublé's version all day long.

This is one of the soundtracks of one of my favorite oldie movies, "Meet me in St. Louis". It was sang by one of my all time favorites, Judy Garland.

I think the reason I love this song so much is because of its romantic melody.  Every time I listen to it, I feel like dancing a slow waltz with myself. :D  Its theme of reunification with friends and family also touches deep in my heart.

After looping these 2 videos again now, I feel fuzzy and warm inside, don't you? :D

Consider this a belated Christmas Merry wish to you :D

How far can you bend your thumb?

On New Year's night, my family and I went to have a Japanese feast, as feasting is our professional specialty (a bit redundant here, heh heh).

We of course ate more than just this huge plate of assorted sashimi.  Today's topic is not about the food! :D It's about the thumb-ups :D

Notice the thumb on the right? It's my dad's thumb. Notice how it bends?

During this dinner, my cousin (thumb on left) compared his thumb with my dad's and found out that my cousin's thumb doesn't bend like my dad's.

So I joined the battle and found out that I am truly my dad's daughter! My thumb bends even crazier than my dad's!! :D hahaha

After a bit of research online, I have the so called "Hitchhiker's thumbs".  it seems this is considered a recessive trait and not everyone can bend the thumb this far backwards :D

Maybe I can start a "Hitchhiker's thumbs association" (彎拇指同鄉會) :D Thumb Bender Unite!!

Here are my meaningful research materials:

Dad's Calligraphy

Earlier last month, my dad had an accident while playing tennis. His left wedding ring finger was snapped backwards and some tendon of the finger was also snapped.  Very awful.  There's a Chinese saying: "pain in the fingers go directly to the heart (十指痛歸心), I have never saw my dad whine about pain in such a manner.

Anyways, before this accident, my dad was not too concentrated into his calligraphy practice. :D  But now he's forced to practice a calmer hobby, so he went back to his Chinese writings. :D

Here is his latest works.

The other day, reading the Sun Newspaper, I was sadden by the report about the new Shilin Night market.

I just found out that the Shinlin night marketing I visited a few times in my previous Taipei trips was only a temporary location.

Although I am excited to have a new place to visit next time I travel to Taipei, the old temporary market will always be a treasured memory.

These are pictures I took in 2008 of the night market. In 2008, it had a carnival like stalls for fun and games. They are no longer found in 2011.

Now these are 2011's picture. :) Not too different from 2008.  But as of now, this part of the market is moved to a newer and permanent location.

Yay! Cold Christmas!!

Today is my cousin's wedding day but I also have to work the morning shift. Usually morning shift makes my mood stink, but equipped with my $15xx bed sheet dress and this 10.6 degrees correct winter temperature, my mood is extremely excited.

Hehehe

Christmas Present to Mom

Hong Kong's various Christmas Decorations

Unlike previous years, it seems this December, I have been traveling a lot to different shopping malls doing different money wasting things.. :D

Here are some pictures I captured with my iPhone during this season. :)

I wish you all a Merry Christmas. :)

Cousin's wedding day weather forcast!

Gosh!! :D Everybody knows I love cold winters; I should be happy that this Christmas is only 11 degrees to 16 degrees! :D

But the silk dress I've got for the wedding is as thin as a bed sheet!!! :D Now need to think on what coat I have to match it with!!

Aiya!

Wagyu Lunch with Old Lau! :D
